Dr. Theresa Callaghan PhD, is a graduate Biochemist from the University of Bath with a PhD from the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem. While working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Pasteur
Institute in France, she became involved in research on LVMH's Capture project and subsequently
moved into corporate skin care research.
Having worked in personal care for more than 36 years, Theresa is a valuable expert within the industry, having served in key R&D senior roles for companies including LVMH (France), Unilever (UK), and Marks & Spencer (UK), J&J (France), Evonik (Netherlands, Spain, Germany) Hill-Top Research (UK,USA), and proDERM (Germany).
In 2008, she started her own consulting company (Callaghan Consulting International), anticipating a need for more discipline in cosmetic claims, and pursuing scientific advancements involved in the process.
She gives regular workshops and presentations internationally, and is a major contributor for peer-reviewed and trade journals, as well as authoring behalf of many clients internationally.
Her work has also been featured in several press articles and reviews. Theresa serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (peer-review), and is an active member of multiple professional societies including: the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (Scandinavia), and British Herbal Medicine Association. Her other roles include serving as an advisor for TKS Science Publisher (Italy), consulting scientific editor and columnist for EuroCosmetics Magazine (Germany), as well as serving as a lecturer in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Sunderland (UK) for the MSc Cosmetic Science course.
